Flexible Learning is the term used at Central Institute of Technology to describe a ‘learner-centred’ approach to teaching and learning.
At Central, flexible learning extends traditional learning practices and aims to provide students with more choices and opportunities to shape their learning experiences to suit their particular needs and circumstances.
Flexible learning at Central is provided in a number of different ways, such as:
-
printed learning materials that supplement ordinary classes;
-
correspondence courses (the Off Campus Network);
-
Independent Learning Units;
-
Course Support Units;
-
Open Access Workshops and Laboratories;
-
online support for printed materials using Blackboard;
-
online support for ordinary classes using Blackboard;
-
television programmes supported by printed materials and contact with Lecturers; and
-
Recognition of Prior Learning.
While these options are not available for all courses, the College is continually striving to expand the range of options available to students. Students interested in flexible learning options should consult a Subject Lecturer or Student Services on 1300 300 822.
