Psychologist services

Central Institute of Technology recognises its obligation to provide support services to students, both academically and in encouraging personal and social development.

Central's Psychologist Service is available to provide confidential, independent and professional assistance, FREE of charge to all Central students.

The Psychologist Service provides:

  • personal support to assist the student to cope with general life problems
  • advisory service to students
  • referral service to appropriate external agencies where necessary
  • assessment to identify, diagnose and assist students with study and adaptation problems
  • psychological assistance and/or trauma debriefing to those involved in critical incidents.

Number of Sessions

The service is designed to provide short-term assistance. Referral will be made for long-term clinical cases.    

Referrals

This is a self-referral service, although in some cases Central staff members may refer with the student's agreement. Attendance is voluntary.
