Surveying and Spatial Information - Resources & Science
Surveying is the collection of spatial data related to the set out and monitoring of engineering structures and mining operations. You will learn about the operation of surveying equipment and software, including GPS, and the use of this equipment to carry out survey projects and the processing of survey data to produce computer aided plans.
Spatial Information Services relate to the science of spatial data capture, storage, manipulation and deliverables. Put another way, this discipline covers roles filled by spatial planners and technical officers often using geographic information systems to store, analyse and represent physical and geographic data using electronic maps, charts and overlays for a variety of industries including mining, agriculture, local government, emergency services.
