Mining - Resources & Science


Mining is one of the largest industries in this state and opportunities to work in industry are diverse. A qualification in mineral exploration will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to work assist geologists as a Field Hand, Pit Technician or Underground Geological Technician. You will learn to collect and analyse geological samples, record information, and look after the practical tasks involved in servicing a remote field operation. You will learn skills in 4WD driving and maintenance, mining computing, and mining methods. You will also learn about first aid, mining safety and geology. A qualification in Drilling will provide you with the practical skills and knowledge to gain employment as an assistant to a Driller (Driller’s offsider) in the field of mineral exploration drilling.
