Central’s Editing Students Make Final Cut

Central Institute of Technology, Screen and Media (Film and TV) students Rowan Haynes and Olivia Dhimitri have won the 2012 Avid Australia Vizcom Editing Student Award. The prize is awarded to the editing students with the best performance in their editing class. Each student received an academic version of the software they use in class - Avid Media Composer.
Media Portfolio Manager Lawry Hill presented the winners with their award in front of a combined class of 2nd and 3rd year Screen Studies students. Mr Hill encouraged the students to do their best in their studies at Central.
“You have a wonderful opportunity to learn here in the Screen studies course. You should aim to acquire as many skills as you can in order to know what you need to build a career“, he said.
Editing lecturer Charlie Collin said the prize was a worthwhile initiative.
“I introduced the prize after reviewing the course. I wanted the students to know how much they were learning by introducing more knowledge testing. The prize gave the students a great incentive, and they responded really well.
A big thank you to Avid Australia and Vizcom for providing the Media Composer software as prizes.
