VET FEE HELP

Central TAFE is the first TAFE in WA to offer the VET FEE-HELP assistance program.

This federal loan program assists eligible students undertaking certain VET courses of study with an approved VET provider, to pay for all or part of their tuition costs upfront.

Approved VET providers offering diploma or advanced diploma courses are required to have an approved credit transfer arrangement to a bachelor degree with a higher education provider.

The program has been designed to increase the amount of students entering into high level qualifications and assist those who had previously struggled to pay course fees at the commencement of their study.

Students pay off the tuition costs once they are in employment and earning a specific wage or higher.  It operates in a similar fashion to the HECS scheme.

Central TAFE is the only authorised WA TAFE college able to offer the VET FEE-HELP program which is now available for its Diploma of Mass Communication qualification.  The course provides foundation skills and knowledge that enable students to move straight into the second year of associated university degrees or directly on to the contemporary media, communications and information industries.

Successful completion of the diploma will enable students to pass straight to year two of their university degree course.

The college will be exploring other options for full fee-paying students to access higher level vocational qualifications that articulate to higher education, in close conjunction with the State’s universities.
