Blackboard
Online learning at Central is delivered through Blackboard CE8, which is a software product used to deliver courses on the internet.
Please note that we are currently phasing in a new Blackboard version. During this time, some courses will be run in Blackboard CE8 and some in Blackboard 9.1. If you are unsure of which version to login to, please contact your lecturer or learning area.
How to log in
1. Click the Login to CE8 or 9.1 button. A login panel will appear.
2. Enter your Username, which is 04+Your Student Number. (e.g. if your student number is 9999999 your username is 049999999)
3. Enter your Password. By default, your password is your date of birth in the format ddmmyyyy (e.g. if your date of birth is the 1st of February 1982, your password is 01021982).
Common error messages
1. Password problems
If you receive the error: "Your login attempt was not successful. Please try again" and you definitely entered your username and password as shown above, you may need to get your password reset. This can be done by the Library Helpdesk on the number below.
2. No access to online courses
If you receive the error: "No WebCT access (yet)" your lecturer has not added you to any Blackboard courses. If you are sure you should be able to access material in blackboard, contact your lecturer or learning area.
